This is one of my favorite homemade cleaners! It is unique with the ingredient citric acid which cleans hard water stains and helps with odor absorption.

Readers have enjoyed this recipe already, so we wanted to share it with Hometalk too!

Don't forget on Chemistry Cachet, we share the science behind each ingredient for our recipes, so head to the blog post to learn more about these ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of concentrated dish soap (I always use Dawn because it performs best)
  • 2 tablespoons citric acid
  • 1 cup of water
  • 15-30 drops of purify essential oil
  • Squeeze Bottle
  • Toilet Bowl Brush

*** -->> Don't forget to head to the blog post for details on what ingredients we use, why we use them, and possible substitutions! We have all these ingredients linked for you too.

Directions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl, then add to a squeeze bottle using a funnel.
  2. Shake the bottle gently before each use to distribute the ingredients.

We use Dawn in all of our recipes for DIY cleaners because it performs the best. You can use another concentrated dish soap, but the results might not be as good.

How To Use This DIY Toilet Bowl Cleaner:

You will use this just like a store-bought version. After gently shaking, lightly squeeze a layer at the top of the toilet bowl. Scrub with a toilet brush well.

Purify essential oil combines oils that help with odor removal and bacteria. Check blog post for other essential oil options!

We love these squeeze bottles for easy application just like store-bought toilet cleaners. You can find these in our blog post or feel free to use anything you have!

I have 6 bathrooms in our home, which my 5 grandkids were excited that they could all pee the same time😂. But two toilets have a ring by the water line that will not come off no matter what I do! Any ideas? Thanks
