This weeks Hometalk Helper Challenge is to create a Halloween project. A few months ago, I picked up an ornate gold-painted framed mirror. I had no idea until today what I was going to do with it. I decided this challenge was the perfect opportunity to use the mirror frame and try a few new techniques.
I decided to give myself a personal challenge of seeing what I could do to make the goofy looking skulls I saw at the Dollar Tree scary looking without going overboard on cost & picked a couple of them up to give it a try.

If you are planning any Halloween festivities these are a fun little addition. And if you are a Harry Potter fan these will bring you even more joy. These fake candles cost me $4 to make and are a perfectly spooky yet somehow pretty addition for Halloween. All you need is some old paper towel and toilet paper rolls, hot glue, fishing wire and flameless tea lights to make these floating candles.
For someone who has never really paid much attention to my own landscaping (because I’m too busy creating décor for inside), I feel like I’ve turned a new leaf this year. Maybe it’s because I just turned 30? Who knows! So, I’ve never even attempted it until I saw Nick’s video on HomeTalk's Facebook page.() I was blown away on how it easy it all looked. So, I had to try it on my own. Thanks Nick and HomeTalk for sharing. I know I wanted to try this for Halloween so I went to one of my favorite places the Dollar Tree. (Always on a budget lol) I got everything I needed the wreath, mesh, pipe cleaners but also got some great "unconventional" things that I thought I could use to make this my version. I’m not into the spooky/dark side of Halloween but because I love to decorate and have a few fun holiday things out during the seasons, I’ll occasionally make something cutesy that I normally wouldn’t be in to, like a witch’s hat.
