CHURCH HISTORY CONTINUED

In August 1997, Rev. Frank Selkirk III was elected as pastor and served until April, 1999.

On August 26, 2000 God gave us Michael E. Brooks as the new Senior Pastor of Zion Grove. He has focused on studying God's Word and growing the Body of Christ as primary concerns. Pastor Brooks has created numerous ministries and such as the intercessory prayer ministry, youth council, athletic ministry, greeter's ministry, security ministry, audio/visual ministry, women's ministry and outreach ministry. There have also been many improvements to the church edifice: Remodeling of the Fellowship Hall, Women's Lounge, the Chapel, Classrooms, Basement Hallways, and the addition of a Video Room and Fitness Center. Construction has been completed on the church's elevator. The Sunday School has been enhanced and updated and is now called "Sunday Discipleship School". It has a six week curriculum that challenges all believers on a new level. Under his leadership Zion Grove was a site for the summer program Freedom School for the second year in a row, where over 100 children attended for 6 weeks. An After School Program has been put in place for students in the Kansas City, Raytown and Grandview School Districts. His teaching and preaching challenges us to know God's will and find our place in the Body of Christ. He has stressed the importance of making God's House a place that is just as important as our own homes. The vision Pastor has shared with us is exciting and inviting.

God has allowed Zion Grove to be a beacon light to this community for 67 years and we pray for many more years of God ordained ministry.
