How to Decorate a Mirror

Choose a color scheme: Choose a color scheme to complement the decor in the room your mirror will hang in.
Add a frame: A frame doesn't always need to be wood. You can create a frame by cladding the mirror’s sides with clay or plaster.
Embellish your frame: Select embellishments that introduce the color scheme you selected earlier. Beads, ceramic tiles, shells, or crystals work well.
Add hooks or a frame stand: Place a small mirror on a picture frame stand to display it. A large mirror will need hooks to wall-mount it.
Keep mirrors shiny and beautiful: Dust your mirror frequently and wipe it down with a wet cloth. This will ensure it always looks magnificent.

Frame a Mirror With Moulding and Tiles

I made a colorful frame for a builder-grade mirror with wood moulding pieces, glass and stone mosaic tiles, and a bit of improvisation.

Faux Window Deceptively Makes the Foyer Bigger

We begin with choosing a 12" X 12" Template that would be used for stenciling. So it has already had the pattern cut out of it where your Etching Cream will go through it onto each of the 9 mirror squares that you'll be using to make the window panes. You lay the stencil on top of the mirror square, tape it (using regular masking tape) to the counter or the mirror square to be sure it does not move. You then use a paint brush and spread lots of the Armour Etching cream on all the empty spaces on the template. After about 5-10 minutes, the etching is complete. You can use a spatula and scrape the etching cream off as best you can and put it back into the bottle. You won't be able to get it all because it will have dried on. (But the etching cream is reuseable. Just shake the bottle to mix the old with the new.) You now remove the template and wash it off thoroughly with water, dry it and set it aside. Now you wash all the remaining etching cream off of the mirror square, and dry it and set it aside. You have your designed window pane.

Cathedral Mirror Barn Door Joanna Gaines Inspired

I have a very small hall bath & the door opens into the bathroom, taking up even more space, so I wanted to replace it with a sliding door. I bought an arched mirror on clearance and mounted it to MDF, framed it out and added trim and molding on sides for privacy. I purchased the MDF from Home Depot and they cut all the pieces to size for me. I bought the barn door hardware on Amazon. I am pretty handy, but installing the hardware was challenging. It may have been just the one I bought because I had to make modifications. Look for one with easy installation.

I thought I didnt have the space for a barn door because I have a small dresser just to the right of the bathroom door. I need this small dresser there because bathroom is so small so it holds my bath towels, linens and toiletries.The solution is to have door slide behind the dresser

Sunflower/Sunburst Mirror Made With Cardstock

I’ve wanted a sunflower/sunburst mirror for a while. I found a couple that I liked at the store, however, I wasn’t a fan of the price. After some research, I knew the best material for this project was heavyweight cardstock. I was going to use a circular mirror but I decided I needed something on top to decorate, then, Eureka! I will use a wood embroidery hoop and clothespins. They are easy to find and really affordable. I drew the pattern and guide to make the placement of each petal easy-peasy and you can download them form my blog avantimorocha.com using your social media to unlock the file or buy it in my Etsy shop.

Easy Christmas DIY Stamped Mirror

Simple Christmas decorating with Iron Orchid Design stamps. This is by far the easiest DIY Christmas decorating! I first cleaned my mirror with 50/50 D-natured alcohol & water. I lined up my Iron Orchid Designs stamps on my mirror to see where I wanted them. I used Heirloom Traditions Paint in Irish Cream & Daredevil & with a foam roller, rolled the paint onto the stamps. Lined it up on my mirror and with light pressure stamped my mirror. Now when January comes, it'll be easy to remove with razor or soap & water!

Antique Mirror With An Acid Technique That Also Has A Love Story...

I had the vision of putting photos of my husband and I from our wedding. We've been married 24 yrs next month. Married at the rip age of 17 and 19 yrs old. Our road hasn't been easy (who's is?) and we have danced through many minefields over our lifetime. Which brings me to the lyrics on the mirror. Lyrics from our song, "Dancing in the Minefields" by Andrew Peterson. It's the most beautiful song that describes our ups and downs over the last 24 yrs. No matter what life threw at us, we clung to the promise of forgiveness, grace and unconditional love. Sooooo now that you understand my heart behind this piece...lets get to the fun part! It's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. The hand carved details are just gorgeous.
